Hi and welcome to my Analysis of Paul Morphys first game by Deep Rybka. The game was analyzed by Deep Rybka for 8 hours. This game was played against his father Alonzo Morphy when Paul was only 10 years old.
As the game starts you can see that even without castling Paul Morphy develops his pieces very quickly. He does so by gaining momentum with moves like d4 and Nf3. Those key moves allowed white to develop while pushing back blacks pieces. White also gains complete control over the center and even gets the open e file which is decisive.
In conclusion, the rapid development and the control over the center more than made up for white’s lack of castling. Paul Morphy knew exactly how to activate his pieces and place them on active squares even at a young age. His very active position allowed him to completely dominate his opponent. This game has a nice explosive ending with the black queen completely lost. Thanks for reading and hope you enjoyed my Analysis of Paul Morphys first game by Deep Rybka.
Hi and welcome to my Kings Gambit Accepted Bishops Gambit Cozio Variation review. This is a short game played at chess.com with 30 min time controls. My opponent was rated a little higher than me. In this version of the kings gambit accepted the white king does not castle because he moves early. By choice the bishop was taken out before the knight. This allows Black Queen to check on move 3. White regains a little momentum when he moves the knight attacking the black Queen. I saw this opening when I was studying Paul Morphy’s games. It is the opening used in his very first recorded game against his father.
In conclusion I would say that I probably got lucky since my opponent was more than likely unfamiliar with his opening. I nonetheless managed to activate all my pieces and win against a stronger opponent. Having a bit more active pieces helped me win a pawn and also defend my king when needed. I would probably not recommend anyone to play this opening but I would recommend people to take a look a some of Paul Morphy’s games. Thanks for reading and hope you enjoyed my Kings Gambit Accepted Bishops Gambit Cozio Variation game review.
Hi and welcome to my Fritz Trainer Master Class Vol 1 Bobby Fisher review. Here is what you get with this course. It comes with a database of 1006 of Bobby Fisher’s games including his opening tree. You also get a short biography, over 5 hours of video lessons and 100 chess puzzles based on Bobby Fisher’s games.
The puzzles as you would expect are Bobby Fischer themed. The Biography is a little on the short side considering most people buying this course will know a whole lot more.
Here is a breakdown of the main part of the course. The first part consists of over 2 hours of video lessons on Bobby Fischer’ s openings. It includes the Ruy Lopez, Sicilian, French, Caro Kann, Najdorf, King’s Indian and Hedgehog among others. Bobby Fischer’s openings are analyzed by Grandmaster Dorian Rogozenco. You get to see how Fischer played openings against the best Grandmasters of his time.
The second part consists of analysis of Bobby Fischer’s strategic play by Grandmaster Mihail Marin. Learn the strategy behind Fisher’s key moves in famous games. Theres also about an hours of video divided in 4 lessons.
Thee tactics part was very interesting once I got the hang of them. There is 18 interactive video lessons based on some of Fischer’s most decisive moments. International Master Oliver Reeh guides you through the lessons and lets you know if you got it right also if you get it wrong as well.
The last past is the endgame by Grandmaster Karsten Muller. Theres over 2 hours of video in 28 lessons. Watch some of Fischer’s advanced endgames expertly played and commented on. Get to see very difficult end games that have been analyzed in depth.
In conclusion, would I recommend it? Maybe I would start buy buying just one of the series of your favorite player perhaps to make sure that you like the format. The opening lessons where the most fun and the endgame especially instructive. Bobby Fischer has top quality play so his games are good to learn from. Overall the package is not perfect but then again if you are fan of Bobby Fischer’s play this might interest you a lot.
Hi and welcome to my overwhelming the defender game review. This is a 30min live game that I played on chess.com. This French: exchange variation has been analyzed by Deep Rybka. I got a nice exclamation “!” when I overwhelmed the defender in the key move. I played a good game with no major mistakes. I noticed I developed quickly while my opponent made more pawn moves and was slow to castle. Due to my opponents slow development I was encouraged to develop as quickly as possible and I ended up with a very strong center.
In conclusion, I believe having developed much faster than my opponent was the key to victory. Another key is that castling queenside can help get your rooks in the center much faster. In addition, having a pair of rooks on open central files is very strong. Also not playing unnecessary pawn moves early can really speed up development as well. Finally a strong center enabled me to overwhelm a key defender in blacks territory and have a quick crushing victory. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed my overwhelming the defender game review.

Houdini 6 is one of the strongest engines currently on the market and comes with fritz 15 interface. I found that the engine is quite strong and fun to play against. It works also great at analyzing my games. This engine is not only strong but also quick at thinking during play as well during analysis.
The standard edition has been updated to reflect the stronger modern computers. You no longer need to purchase the multiprocessor version that has support for up to 128 cores. With the standard version it will support up to 4 cores or 8 with hyper treading. One of the problems I did have with it is that it would not save the engine settings after exit. Every time I restart Houdini 6 I have to change the engines settings again to 4 cores and 4 gigs of hash memory. The fritz 15 interface is alright, not much different that the fritz 12 that I can see.
Here I play a blitz game against Houdini 6 at full strength and get caught quickly at the beginning and lose a piece. The game is then analyzed by Houdini for 10 mins.
I least i also got to queen in the end though it didn’t matter. It was a full and well played game by Houdini. The analysis is also very thorough for just 10 mins of analysis.
In conclusion this is one of the strongest and up to date engine money can buy. Even the standard edition is not cheap and there are some strong free engines available as well. If you own a quad core computer and are looking for a paid solution for game analysis this could be for you. The gameplay and analysis is solid as you would expect from paid software. I would recommend that you to get it on sale if you really want it.
I did get this software to hopefully do some database management and analyses some games. Here are a few of the good quality of this software. It does come with a database of over 6 million games.including 34 with annotations. There is also 400000 correspondence games and 2000 commented games. There is a fun quest mode that you get to train in various positions. you also get to gain experience to advance levels by completing quests of winning games. Plenty of puzzles are also present with many different subjects. You can also play against the chess engine at many different levels up to grandmaster level strength.
Here are some of the downside aspects of my Chess King Platinum 2017 with Houdini 5 review. I have 3 main concerns that are quite annoying. The first one is that my anti-virus and Houdine5.exe are not friends at all. I have Trend Micro and I have added it to the exception list. It still keeps blocking it and I must close my anti-virus before use. Luckily I don’t have the same problem with Houdini 6. Another very related problem is that chess King will not let me install other engines the mitigate the anti-virus problem. My biggest contentions are the anti-virus issue and the price. For example the chess analysis is better with other free engines like Stockfish 8.
In conclusion I would definitely not recommend this to anyone. Though there is some limited use in the fact that is fun to play to gain levels and experience other than ELO rating. Also there is a good database of games that comes with it. On the other hand, there is a better free option for everything I just mentioned. So don’t waste your money on this one, its not worth it. Thanks for reading and I hope that you have enjoyed my Chess King Platinum 2017 with Houdini 5 review.
Hi and welcome to my The Grandmasters Positional Understanding review. This course is one of my favorites by Grandmaster Igor Smirnov. This course has helped me tremendously in my chess development. It will teach you so much that you will that I believe that you will instantly play chess much better after going through this one course.
It comes with over 5 hours of video in seven lessons and a few bonus lessons. You also have a series to practical exercises to solve based on the video lessons in this course. There are over one hundred exercises and puzzles to solve that can really help you completely understand the subject matter. The instructions in the video lessons are clear and well presented. The video lessons are quite enjoyable and include a lot of concrete examples. The material is easy to learn and to understand. I would say that Igor Smirnov did such a great job that it’s worth going over again. You will lean positional principles and strategic elements applicable to all your games.
I really enjoyed the lessons on all the various pawn structure. I also liked the in debt lesson on the value of bishops and how to best use them in your games. My game play definitely changed for the better after going trough this course. It really helped me understand many middle game positions as well as how to improve them to my advantage. I like how the material was so easily integrated in my chess games.
In conclusion, I believe the course is of great value considering the improvement it can bring. The course has made me a much better player and I even enjoy going back to it and to go over the lessons again. I loved this course so much that I would recommend it to anyone slightly interested. Thanks for reading and I hope that you have enjoyed my The Grandmasters Positional Understanding review.
Hi and Welcome to my Garry Kasparov teaches chess Master Class review.
I was not sure what to expect from Master Class as this is my first experience with them. For the low price of 120$ Canadian I figured it’s worth a try. At that price if it didn’t work out it wouldn’t break the bank. Tony Robbins once said that if you want to learn something try to learn it from the best at that particular subject. Well I don’t think many people here will have any doubt that Garry Kasparov is the best chess player around. Who better to have as a chess instructor?
Well I will have to say that Master Class has blown my mind. In both overall quality of the presentation to the quality of the instruction. The picture quality of the videos are outstanding. The sets where Garry has a board and talks to the camera are grandiose and make you feel like you are having a one on one class. Master Class also did a good job a building a community of students that can easily interact with each other. There are a few places to chat and comment as well as a comment section for every class to ask questions or have a general discussion. The workbook is also quite well presented and the overall website is easy to navigate.
I wasn’t sure if the subject matter would be to easy or too advanced for me before decided to purchase it. It does start with a bit of easier material and quickly dives in intermediate and advanced levels. I didn’t really come across anything so boring that I wanted to skip or too advanced that I found it too hard. I would say that there is definitely something here for all levels of chess players. Garry Kasparov makes all the instructions clear and easy to understand. He is really good at keeping your attention because he presents everything in an enthusiastic and lively manner.
In conclusion I wouldn’t say that after this class you will be a grandmaster. As Garry Kasparov says that chess is really big and he would like us to use his class as a starting point for further development. I have learned a lot and am completely satisfied and happy to have got this course. I would recommend this course to anyone for its price, its teacher and its presentation. As long as you already know how to move the pieces and have at least a basic understanding. This is best for club players and I imagine even Masters and Grandmasters could get something out of it. I have to say thank you and awesome job to both Master Class and Garry Kasparov. Thanks for reading and I hope that you have enjoyed my Garry Kasparov Teaches Chess Master Class Review.
I decided to try Deep Rybka to analyze my chess games and I am glad I did. Though initially hesitant because of the high price, I made the leap and now I am using it evey day. I primarily bought it to do analysis on my games. I wanted something very reliable that would give me accurate information.
Deep Rybka 4 is also a good engine to play against. It also comes with a database of over 1.5 million games by very strong players. I also find myself enjoying the chess games in the training section. I do find the database management a bit tedious since you have to copy your game then paste them in your database in a new window. They should have made an effort here but it is the fritz 12 interface that is to blame.
Deep Rybka 4 is currently set to use uses 8 cores with 7347Mb of Ram on a quad core i4820k processor. The number of core to use and ram settings are fully adjustable. The playing strength is amazing as one would expect. It also came with the Rybka 960 engine for both 960 chess play and analysis. Playing 960 versus Deep Rybka is both fun and challenging. It does seem to have some issues with certain starting positions where it will not start. I did get this for analysis so here is an example of me playing Deep Rybka 4 at full strength in a blitz game as well as a game analysis.
In conclusion I would say that if you are looking for a very good analysis tool with natural language this is an awesome choice. There are a lot of strong chess engines out there but not many give you in depth analysis with natural language. This is not cheap but I think the cost is worth it if you are looking to analyze your games with a strong chess engine. Analysis is a good tool that can be used to improve the weaknesses in your game. This is by far my best tool for the job. I hope you enjoyed my Deep Rybka 4 multiprocessor version review.
